CollectIn is a browser extension that helps you organize your LinkedIn saved posts into collections. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how our extension works.
The short version: CollectIn stores all your data locally in your browser and never sends any information to external servers.
Information We Collect and Store
Local Browser Storage Only
CollectIn stores the following information locally in your browser's storage:
- Collection names: The names you give to your post collections
- Post assignments: Which posts belong to which collections
- Extension preferences: Your settings and preferences for how the extension behaves
This data is stored using your browser's local storage mechanisms and never leaves your device.
Information We Do NOT Collect
CollectIn does not collect, access, store, or transmit:
- Your LinkedIn login credentials or authentication tokens
- The content of your LinkedIn posts or messages
- Your LinkedIn profile information
- Your browsing history outside of LinkedIn
- Any personally identifiable information
- Analytics or usage data
How We Use Your Information
The information stored locally by CollectIn is used solely to:
- Display your collections in LinkedIn's saved posts interface
- Remember which posts belong to which collections
- Provide filtering functionality based on your collections
- Maintain your extension preferences
Since all data is stored locally, we have no access to your information and cannot use it for any other purposes.
Data Sharing and Third Parties
CollectIn does not share any data with third parties because:
- All data is stored locally in your browser
- No data is transmitted to our servers or any external services

LinkedIn Integration
CollectIn operates by:
- Reading the DOM: The extension reads LinkedIn's webpage structure to identify saved posts and add collection features
- Modifying the interface: Adding collection badges, filters, and management tools to LinkedIn's existing interface
- No API calls: We do not make any calls to LinkedIn's API or any external APIs
- No account access: We never access your LinkedIn account, authentication, or perform actions on your behalf
The extension only enhances the visual presentation of LinkedIn's saved posts page and does not interact with LinkedIn's servers.
Data Security
Since all data is stored locally in your browser:
- Your data is protected by your browser's security mechanisms
- Data is not transmitted over the internet
- No risk of server breaches or external data theft
- You maintain complete control over your data
Data Retention and Deletion
Your collection data is retained locally until:
- You uninstall the CollectIn extension
- You clear your browser's local storage/data
- You manually delete collections within the extension
If you uninstall CollectIn, all associated data will be removed from your browser. Your LinkedIn saved posts will remain unchanged in your LinkedIn account.
Browser Permissions
CollectIn requires minimal browser permissions:
- Access to linkedin.com: To modify the saved posts page interface
- Storage permission: To save your collections locally in your browser
We do not request permissions for:
- Access to other websites
- Reading your browsing history
- Accessing your downloads or files
- Managing your apps, extensions, or themes
Children's Privacy
CollectIn is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. Since we do not collect any personal information, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy
- Post the new Privacy Policy on this page
- For significant changes, provide notice through the extension or our website
